Last rites for Charles W. Daggy, well known Civil War veteran who died suddenly Saturday afternoon after a heart attack will be held from the Presbyterian Church at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon.  Rev. Victor L. Raphael will have charge of the services. The Sons of Veterans will act as pall bearers and interment will be in the Forest Hill cemetery. Friends wishing to view the remains may call at the Rector Funeral Home on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.  Mr. Daggy was born Jan 20, 1844, on a farm, the old Homestead being on Indiana St, near the Allen Lumber Yard. He was a veteran of the Civil War, having enlisted at the age of 17 years. He served in the 55th Indiana Infantry and the 20th Indiana Light Artillery.  Mr. Daggy was the last of a family of 14 children, a sister, Miss Eliza Daggy passed away just two weeks ago.  He served two terms as County Commissioner. It was during his term that the county hospital was started, he being an ardent worker for it.  Mr. Daggy had been confined to his home with illness since the last of Oct but had recovered enough to be up and around and was down town when he suffered a heart attack to which he succumbed.  Mr. Daggy is survived by three children, Prof. ML Daggy of Pullman, Washington; Charles Roscoe living north of Greencastle and Mrs. WA Keatte of Milwaukee, Wis, Mrs. Daggy passed away six years ago this month.  -kbz
